The NEW  HOPE  ACADEMY of  CHANGE (NHAC), non-profit educational corporation as has over (10) ten  years of experience providing service to clients  who have complex health and/or behavioral health conditions and/or are students who utilize public services.

 (NHAC), a community-based educational corporation provides services to at-risk clients, adults, veterans, and economically disadvantaged population designed to provide intensive employment training, education, case management, and other supportive services to high-risk, underserved clients, and offenders re-entering the community. 

Our mission is to promote academic success in each student   through thinking, problem solving and in-depth learning. NHAC promotes social, emotional learning that affirms the importance of teaching students to be both physically and mentally healthy as well as creating and maintaining a school environment that promotes a healthy school community. The NHAC motto is "On Time...On Task...and On a Mission."  This motto and philosophy is articulated and emphasized to all clients in an effort to promote change and to provide clients with a "New Hope" or "beginning", reflecting our agency name.

 New Hope Academy of Change (NHAC) is designed to collaborate with communities’ agencies and colleges to act as a catalyst for change to address vital aspects of students by raising their standard of living in their communities.  We believe that a systematic and sustained emphasis on education and life skills will help remove students from negative lifestyles that have inhibited their development as constructive and successful citizens positively contributing to society. 

The NHAC is a comprehensive educational center to provide clients with the necessary skills to increase job readiness, job placement and job retention.  Our services also include a gender specific component for females. The mission of NHAC is to promote academic success in each student grade K-12 through problem solving, higher order thinking skills, cooperative learning to develop excellent skills for completion of college and career paths.   Our organization promotes learning opportunities that are appropriately differentiated.  We respect the unique needs and strengths of each student while providing a comprehensive educational program to prepare all students including gender-specific students with the necessary skills to increase job readiness, job placement and job retention

We are centrally located in Long Beach in a high at-risk, low socio-economic disadvantaged income area. The surrounding area includes the Martin Luther King Jr. Park.  Many of our clients are on probation and have dropped out of school and need guidance and support. 

NHAC has headquarters located at 1133 E. Rhea Street, Long Beach, CA 90806. NHAC has two satellite offices located 1076 E. 20th Street, Long Beach, CA  90806 and 1070 E. 20th Street, Long Beach, CA  90806.

NHAC has been servicing at-risk clients, adults, veterans, individuals recently released from correctional systems, and economically disadvantaged population since 2009.  We provide our clients with safe opportunities to grow and develop the tools needed to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency by providing work readiness programs, job placement, and tools for our clients to remain successfully employed.  NHAC provides academic instruction, education support, job readiness training, vocational skills development, entrepreneurship training, case management services, designed to increase academic achievement of low-performing, disadvantage youth.  This includes English Learners (EL) and students with disabilities (SWDs).  NHAC provides intensive supportive services to over 500 clients annually. 

NHAC is an innovative and progressive learning center that embraces cultural, linguistically  and developmental differences of its population.  Our learning center is designed to collaborate with communities, agencies, and educational institutions to act as a catalyst for change to address the vital aspects of clients by raising their standard of living in their communities.  We provide learning opportunities that are both appropriately differentiated as well as gender oriented and gender focused. We respect the unique need and strengths of each student, emphasizing cognitive social, emotional and physical development.  By integrating an ethos of service and environmental stewardship, we hope to provide a unique opportunity for personal growth for all who are affiliated with our learning center. It is our fundamental belief that all clients who matriculate from the academy should be amply prepared to successfully compete for both career performance, promotion, and college admission.

NHAC provides employment and educational opportunities to at-risk/high-risk clients, and transitioning adults by providing professional development, life skills training, job placement, and comprehensive support services.  Our program allows our participants to successfully obtain and retain jobs, but also helps them to develop the skills needed to become successful in their career and throughout their life.  Participants are given meaningful jobs that help them to grow personally and to improve their neighborhood.  They learn problem solving, confidence, conflict resolution, positive decision-making, and relationship building.  Clients learn valuable professional and personal skills that help them throughout their life.  We also believe that parents should be continuously involved, informed and engaged in every aspect of their child's success in school.

NHAC provides a comprehensive assessment for every client.  With a complete evaluation, staff is able to complete a thorough service delivery plan.  Because everyone’s needs are different clients are matched with the services that are appropriate for their individual needs. 

NHAC staff also provides Intensive Case Management Services ICMS in settings such as interim housing, rapid re housing, permanent supportive housing field based locations, community based locations , health and behavioral health facilities, sobering centers, recuperative care centers, criminal justice and custody facilities and other settings as needed to end homelessness and support the community reintegration of persons leaving institutions.

NHAC staff provide a comprehensive assessment for every client.  With a complete evaluation, staff is able to complete a service delivery plan.  Because everyone’s needs are different their clients are matched with the services that are appropriate for their individual needs. 

The goal of NHAC’s  ICMS is to  decrease criminal and delinquency behavior and to promote school success for high-risk probation youth. Designed for probation youth and their parents. The program’s Case Workers visit each family in their homes to provide support and guidance in empowering the youth to successfully complete the terms of his or her probation. During these weekly visits, Case workers engage the minors in curriculum based social learning discussions, regarding Decision Making, Choices and Consequences, anger Management, Substance Abuse Prevention, and Recognizing Thinking Errors as Minimizing, Self-Centeredness, and False Blaming. The parents are engaged in informational discussions that focus on developing effective Communication, Discipline, Household Structuring skills. Successful delivery of these services effectively strengthens the family unit, promote responsible youth behavior, and decrease recidivism.
